Do Not Be Judgmental

Greetings my brothers and sisters in Christ.  May The Lord bless you and pour His grace upon you and your loved ones in abundance.

We have been noticing with great interest the statements and comments that Pope Francis has made since assuming the papacy.  Some of his comments are a refreshing departure from his predecessors.

Since assuming the papacy, he has commented about the amount of time, effort and space that has been devoted to two particular subjects . . . homosexuality and abortion.  He noted that while these are important issues, there are other issues that are of equal or greater importance, but are not being given the same attention as the two issues mentioned.  All other issues are completely overshadowed by the topics of homosexuality and abortion.

We couldn’t agree more!

For example, there are two issues in particular that Jesus considered very important and spent much of his ministry speaking about.  The first is that we should love one another and love our neighbors as ourselves.  Three of the four Gospels -- as well as other books of the New Testament -- address this topic multiple times.  Matthew 19:19, 22:39; Mark 12:31, 12:33, and John 13:34, 15:12 are just a few of the many mentions of this topic.

Secondly, we are admonished to not be judgmental of others.  Matthew 7:1 and Luke 6:37 address this issue by stating, “Do not judge, lest you be judged.”

We believe it is far more important to love all of God’s children here on earth and leave judgment to The Lord.

May The Lord bless you and your loved ones.
