Keeping Faith in Trying Times as well as Good Times

Greetings, my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.  May The Lord bless you and pour His grace upon you and your loved ones.

We were recently reminded that quite often it is easy to maintain a good relationship with The Lord when times are good, but it is difficult to maintain a strong faith when times are not going so well.

We were attending a sermon by a preacher who was not familiar to us, but who spoke well the Word of God.  The point he made was a good one.  It is much easier to look favorably upon our relationship with God when things in life are good.  However, when things in life are not running so smoothly, it is not as easy to maintain a strong faith or relationship with Him.

It is important to maintain a strong faith in The Lord at all times.  But, it is when we are being tested the most that we must keep a strong faith.  That is when we need Him most!

We know that people often blame God for the difficult times in their lives and have heard them say that their faith is growing weak as a result.  If we are truly Christians, then we must call upon Jesus during these times of trial and not spurn him.

Mark 10:46-52 relates the story of Bartimaeus, a blind man who cried out to Jesus, “Son of David, have mercy upon me!’’  And although he was commanded to be still, Bartimaeus continued crying out to Jesus to have mercy upon him.  Ultimately, Jesus called the blind man to him and asked, “What do you want me to do for you?’’  Whereupon, Bartimaeus said, “My lord, let me see again.’’  Jesus responded, “Go! Your faith has made you well.’’

It is our faith during testing times that will avail us much in life!

May The Lord bless you and your loved ones.

Your humble servant in Christ.
